Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend a few minutes with Max Lucado, Senior Minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio. Great guy and great church. They launched their second campus Easter 2005 and are in the process of launching campus #3 in West San Antonio. They are experiencing rapid growth as a church and as they are trying to navigate the facilities needs of the original campus within their overall multi-site vision, they were bumping up against some roadblocks - largely financial. Characteristic of Max and the team at Oak Hills, the issue became a matter of prayer. And they put legs to their prayers - except in this case it was wheels. The staff and a portion of the elders rented a bus (talk about having the right people on the bus) and took a "prayer drive" around San Antonio seeking God's direction and that direction came in a very tangible way. While they drove through the west side praying, a cell phone call was received from a member of the church who indicated that they were committing $500,000 to the launch of campus #3. Another example of resources following a God-inspired vision.
Lean on the giver of all good gifts and press on toward the vision he has placed in hearts and minds of your church!
I get chills when I hear about prayer being answered in a direct way like that. Thanks for sharing it!
