I am amazed at the ways
that God appears to be using the multi-site model to reach the world - through
international satellite campuses. I recently came across this note on a
campus that Flamingo Road Church established recently in Peru.
In 2007, God has enlarged His territory with FLamingo Road Church again as they launched 3 more
campuses: the Internet campus, Sawgrass, and their first international campus in Lima , Peru. Their long term goal - become one
church…where you are.
I know that Celebration Church (Jacksonville, FL). Healing Place Church (Baton Rouge, LA) and Christ the King (Mt. Vernon, WA) also have campuses around the world.
Who else is taking their campus around the world?
What are the unique challenges and opportunities?
I was visiting The Church at Brookhills in Birmingham a few weeks ago, and it happened to be the day that David Platt, their pastor, announced their multi site stragey. I loved the language he used. He talked about the site being a "base" for ministry and disciplship. All to often when people think of multisite they think of the worship service. I love Brookhills approach. But in terms of this post. I wanted to say that they are looking at going multisite on an international bases and printing all their material in multiple languages. I can't wait to see them "change the world!"
