John Atkinson, Multi-Site Pastor at Bay Area Fellowship (Corpus Christi, Texas), recently blogged this post, Multi Site Pitfalls. He's learned that it's not easy, and shares about some of the pitfalls they faced, to help other churches be better informed when deciding to go multi-site:
- Make sure God is calling you to add sites.
- Multi Site will stress your church at its seams.
- Finding the right leader is critical to the success of a new site, and those kinds of leaders are not easy to come by.
- Someone on your staff will need to champion the Multi Site Ministry
- Adding sites will stretch your churches finances.
- Creating great worship in multiple venues is one seriously tough gig.
The above is only a summary of multi-site pitfalls -- read his entire post for his more detailed explanation. John, along with campus pastor Jason Curlee, are also hosting a Multi-Site Ministry Tokbox tomorrow, Wednesday, January 21st at 12:00pm Central. The topic of discussion will be creating buy-in and commitment on the campus. (Tokbox is a free web-based multi-user video conference app.)

Hello, my name is Joey Davila. I am the Multi Site Worship Director for Bay Area Fellowship. I work directly under John Atkinson and I too have a blog about Multi Sites, but mine is in the area of Worship. I was wondering if you'd check out my site and possibly add it to your list of multi site blogs. Thanks for your consideration.

Would any of the churches on this site be interested in this?
